A little bit of good fortune

We know how to make a little bit of good fortune and a lot of creativity go a long way.

We're a non-profit. So, when Tom designed our Victorian set for Lady Dunsworth's Dilemma, we knew we would need to stretch every dollar of our budget. That's where the creativity comes in.

Why buy maple wood floors for $8/sqft when you have super-talented artists that can create the same effect from plywood?

Our technique is a four-step process that involves layering on different base colors, then staining and finishing the paint to match the type of wood grain we're trying to recreate. This finishing step turns all our colors into the warm maple pattern seen in the first photo.

And what high-tech tools do we use to create these patterns? Why, old brooms of course :-)

If you have a question about set design or how we create our wonderful illusions, leave a note in the comments below. We can't wait to see you at the grand opening of Lady Dunsworth's Dilemma later this Spring!
